Our mission

Our mission is to be near and care for the brokenhearted.

To live out our calling by reflecting the love, grace, and mercy we’ve received in our own lives.

To meet those suffering from homelessness, addiction, and mental illness at their moment of desperation.

And to partner with them in their journey to wholeness, wellness, and peace.

Our distinctives

Advocates’ distinctives guide how we do our work.  They are the truths, unmoving in an everchanging world.

(1). Inherent Value. Everyone is inherently valuable. There is nothing – either in the past, present, or future – that can change that.  No one is beyond repentance and then redemption.

This is the engine which drives our people to go the extra mile for our clients.

(2). Choices Matter. As inherently valuable, a person’s choices matter. Meaningful decisions cannot be made for someone - they must be made by someone.

This is the boundary which demands the client must make the choice for a better life themselves. No one else can choose it for them.

(3). Perpetuating the Cycle. To shield someone from all the consequences of their decisions only perpetuates the harm we seek to eliminate.

This is the threshing ground for many social service outreaches. Insulating from all the bad things connected to bad decisions allows a settling for less and will only prolong the pain addiction always brings.
